Fushigi Yuugi: Other Characters H-K
Name: Hakurou
First Appearance: GenrouDen (Gaiden)
Description: The former boss of Reikaku-zan whose death brought about the conflict between Tasuki and the grasping Eiken for control of the mountain. A young leader with purpose and principle, Tasuki looks up to him and admires his strength. Hakurou is killed by a byouma which invades his body and takes his life. His gravesite appears in the manga/anime but Hakurou himself is never mentioned by name in the manga or the anime. However, Tasuki later uses a spell which has the words "Hakurou En" . Hakurou (魄狼) is a nickname which means "Spirit Wolf" so Tasuki's spell would mean "Flames of the Spirit Wolf". Since Hakurou was the original wielder of the tessen, this spell may well have been something learnt from Hakurou during his last months of life.
Name: Houki
First Appearance: Manga/Anime TV series
Description: A village girl forced to leave her home to join the harem, Houki is Hotohori's eventual chosen consort. She looks almost identical to Nuriko except for being genuinely female, and for the mole Nuriko has on his cheek. She and Nuriko became close friends while in the harem together. Houki was the childhood playmate of Hotohori's exiled half-brother Tendou with whom Hotohori was forced to fight for her hand. Houki comes to love Hotohori beyond all other things, yet is still widowed by the war and forced to raise their only son alone whilst being effective regent of Kounan.

Name: Kouji (also known as "Aniki")

Slightly eccentric, Kouji is extremely loyal, and notable for his habit of talking to himself when greeting others or entering rooms. (Also known in the English translation of the manga as Knei-Gong). Tasuki and Kouji first met when Tasuki ran away to Reikaku-zan and to begin with there was resentment from Kouji towards his junior, but over time they developed a close amitie and Kouji is Tasuki's sworn second in command on Reikaku-zan after Tasuki takes the tessen. Kouji is often called 'aniki' by the other bandits to reflect this position. To begin with Tasuki also called him this, because Kouji is two years older, but after Tasuki flamed the tessen, Kouji told him to just call him by his first name.
