Since I don't have all of these, and
haven't had time to read more than a little of any of them since I've
had them, I'm including them here. They are *very* hard to find, even -
it seems - on the second-hand market in Japan. As far as I know, there
are eight or nine Sotsugyou M novels in total. I have four of the nine
- pictures below:
::As of
March 08 I've tracked down - I think! - volumes 4, 6, 7 and 8 of the
novels, which I'll scan and add to the site as soon as I've got them in
my hot little hands. I've also discovered that there were at least
three novels which aren't Sotsugyou M+ but simply Sotsugyou M, and they
seem to be even more difficult to find (groan, grumble, moan etc). So
as yet I haven't nailed them (but I'll be looking...one thing at a
time!)::
Volume One: Oretachi no Kagaijugyou (Our Extra-Curricular Lesson) |
Volume Two: Oretachi no PURAIBEETO TAIMU (Our Private Time) |
Volume Three Oretachi no HAPUNINGU (Our Happening) |
Volume Four |
Volume Five: Oretachi no Kinou, Kyou, Ashita (Our Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow) |
Volume Six |
Volume Seven |
Volume Eight |
Volume Nine(?) |
More information to come as soon as I can
add it :)
This is what you might call the tip of the iceberg. I'm still discovering random stuff and I haven't a clue how much Sotsugyou M stuff actually exists.
Other than the media discs I've already
mentioned, it must be mentioned that a VHS/Laser Disc called "MVP" was
also released. This is an odd mix between EMU and Sotsugyou M, for it
connects the two together irrevocably. (I say VHS & Laser Disc
because it exists in both format - mine just happens to be on LD).
The disc features a handful of songs in video form - two with black and
white videos featuring the artists as well as one introductory one, and
two which feature the characters from the animation. It also came with
postcards of the characters themselves, as well as what appears to be a
poster/advert for the song Juudai wa PARADAISU. I can't be
sure if it came with much more, since my copy was acquired second hand.
The montage to the right is a brief (less
than 2 minute) sample of what the laser disc contains. The songs are
(in order of play):
Juudai wa PARADAISU
Bokutachi no Kotae ~Rule~
Girl
Shounen A-Z
And the character snippet comes from Arai Tougo (Midorikawa-san).
The song playing in the background is Tsubasa
Naki Sedai. Ironically this is NOT credited to Arai Tougo
but to Midorikawa himself and belongs on the E.M.U CDs. Confusing stuff
yet again.
The MVP is out of production, so it is difficult to find it on the
second hand market. I was lucky and fluked mine off Ebay, but most of
the EMU stuff I've acquired has had to come through Japanese second
hand sources. This can make it hard to track things down - but if
you're a fan don't give up trying, it's worth it :D
More Fushigi Yuugi geekdom here - the LD
also features a commercial for Fushigi Yuugi voiced by Hayashi (Kanna)
Nobutoshi as Tasuki. I don't know if that's also on the VHS, but it's
about 15 seconds long and is advertising the OVA :D
Voice Message CDs
These are the weirdest things on the planet. :S They're a
collection of random messages recorded by the seiyuu as the character,
such as answerphone messages, wake-up calls, congratulations messages,
etc. They were sold as ボイス・メッセージCDs (Boisu-Messeeji, or Voice Message
CDs).
They're on mini-disks, like the Characters
Special CDs and they're...random. But they exist, so we'll go with it.
There is one for each of the characters, but they're not easy to find,
even on the second hand Japanese market. The one pictured (For a highly
enthusiastic Katou Yuusuke) is the only one I actually have!
Here is a brief sample
of the kind of thing these CDs contain. (Before you click this, turn
the volume DOWN on your PC. If you don't, I'm not responsible for the
consequences!)
The boys also released a "group love
message" CD. Er. No, I haven't got this. I haven't ever seen it online,
either. But I imagine it might be rather scary. I think I'm going to go order some armour
to protect me from Yuusuke now...if he gets that excited just
announcing wake-up calls, congratulations and answer phone messages,
confessing his love to someone might just kill them...
