Nothing is really known about Kiyone's origins. We know she was a high flying student at the Galaxy Police Academy, who graduated second in her class and who was on the route for bigger and better things before she got partnered with the well meaning but impossibly clumsy Detective Mihoshi. Her family are entirely unknown, as is what planet she is from - although it seems likely that her planetary origin is not dissimilar to Tenchi's. While I don't think she is of Earth, she is of a planet somewhere with similarly limited capabilities, since Kiyone has no magical abilities and has to rely on Galaxy Police weapons in a conflict.

In short, Kiyone is the dedicated police officer, whose life is about to get a whole lot more complicated!
