1991:

TEENY WEENY PONIES

(also called Teeny Tiny Ponies)

These were officially marketed as the smallest ever baby ponies, although they were surpassed in 1994 with the twins belonging to Surprise Twins Pony. They were even smaller than the newborn babies, and, as a result, their features were somewhat kittenish, giving them a rather odd look.

There were four in the set, using two unique poses. One pose has a 1 on the foot, and the other has a 2, probably because there were also sets of identical twins released in North America. The twins didn't come to the UK, though. We only ever had these four. They were sold on yellow bordered cards in the style for the year, and came with a duck comb and ribbon.

There are some name variations in this set, and, also, some batch/issue variations - ironically surrounding the same pony. More on their individual pages!

My sister and I had all of this set from new, but, in 1994/5, when I was corresponding with Hasbro UK, they sent me 2 loose Teeny Weeny Ponies (Little Lullabye and Little Giggles) which they said they had 'lying around the office'. These appear to be normal release baby ponies, but, for some reason, they did not get packaged.

Woolworths also ran an offer in the early 1990s whereby they sold Teeny Weeny ponies as extra to the My Little Pony Kitchen. I have no idea why, except that some stores sometimes did do special offers with toys that other stores did not do. The cards were folded over to fit them inside the box.

Instead of having the prefix 'Baby' on their names, this set all went by "Little" (something), presumably because of their size!
