1992:
MERMAID BABY PONIES
Given the popularity of the Baby Sea Ponies earlier in the line, it's actually a bit odd that it took ten years for Hasbro to introduce the idea of mer-ponies. Or, maybe, it's just that little bit out there that it didn't occur until they wanted to go out with a bang. Whatever the reason, these three little babies had features modeled on the facial structure of the Teeny Weeny Ponies, and had front hooves (unlike the Baby Sea Ponies, who had fins), but instead of back legs they had a tail coated in pearly paint. Their symbols are depicted in a heart shaped embossed pendant on their chests.
Hasbro only ever produced three Mermaid Babies, and so the mould is unique to this set. They were not sold in the UK.
