1994:
SEASIDE BABY PONIES
If you were looking for a set of Euro/UK Baby Ponies to utterly confuse you in terms of their identities, this is the set to do it.
Babies Splish, Splash and Splosh can probably be called the UK's answer to the Paradise Babies of the USA, only in some ways they were more special, since the streak of orange in their hair turned yellow in warm water, and, with the aid of their floats, the babies were able to swim. (As you can imagine, the same potential mould risks existed with these as with Baby Sea Ponies, because each baby pony had holes in her feet also to assit her with buoyancy in the water.)
SEASIDE BABY FEET, WITH HOLES FOR BUOYANCY
Please note that all three girls are correctly labelled according to their backcard and are shown with the right float :)
The babies were not sold with any other accessories, so the ribbons in the picture are not original to the set. All three baby ponies were in the same mould and had sea creatures for symbols. Though part of their mane changed colour, their tails were all one solid colour and did not change.
SEASIDE BABY INSTRUCTIONS FOR SWIMMING
(HASBRO INT'L 1993)
Instructions for the Seaside Baby Ponies. This was included in the packaging of the baby, and explained how they were meant to work. As my sister observed, the second picture is just not normal...
Some painted versions of these are in existence and believed to be prototypes from the planning stages of their creation.
