1986: Special Sets
MOLLY and BABY SUNDANCE
MOLLY: Blond doll (smaller than megan) with pink dress, striped leggings, white shoes (not shown), pink ribbons in hair (tied in bunches).
BABY SUNDANCE: White baby pony with beddy bye eyes, pink mane and tail, pink hearts in a circle symbol.
As if it wasn't enough having Megan in doll form, this year saw the creation of Megan's petulant but plucky little sister Molly. If you thought it was impossible to create a doll with a more vacant expression than Megan, then Molly exceeded all expectations in that department. Just as blond with big blue eyes, Molly's release coincided with the My Little Pony Movie, in which she played a key role. Her companion, logically, was Baby Sundance, who had a bridle to match the one Megan had for Sundance.
There has long been speculation on two fronts about this set. Firstly, whether there ever existed a version of Baby Sundance with a first tooth - as she appeared in an American promotional Hasbro booklet and the television commercial for the Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe. The answer to that is simple - aside from the prototype model herself, Baby Sundance was never sold with a first tooth. She was only available with the beddy bye eyes. Secondly, people have wondered if dolls based on the Molly style and mould were sold with Pony Friends anywhere - namely in Europe and the UK. Again, the answer is no. They appeared in one brochure (again, 1987, United States) but were never put into production and the Pony Friends themselves were never sold in the UK.

(Apologies for the black and white. My system cannot screen cap from NTSC video in colour :S)
Molly and Baby Sundance themselves were limited to a North American release, though they may have come out in Australasia. They certainly were not a part of the UK line at any time.
