1988: Sundae Best Ponies

Banana Surprise is one of the uncomplicated members of the Sundae Best set. Sold under the same name in both the North American and the UK release, she does not seem to have attracted continental variations along the way. Maybe it is this lack of variety which makes her one of the more common ponies in her set (or maybe it's just the icky pink colour!)

She did not ever play a major role in the comic universe - though she probably had bit parts in stories during the time Sundae Best ponies were out. Oddly, the Sundae Best Ponies were not introduced en masse but in bits and pieces, with Banana Surprise not making her debut until Floater went exploring and met up with her on Ice Cream Island. (Between you and me, she should have stayed there, too!) The story gave her the distinction of mending a torn cloud with a giant banana sundae - which should tell you all you need to know about her standard of cooking ^_^.

She did also have the dubious honour of being on the cover of one of the UK annuals - alongside her set-mates and a fruit based maypole!
