1985-7: Twinkle Eye Ponies
MASQUERADE
Yellow pegasus pony with dark green/aqua/green/neon yellow mane and tail, pink and aqua masquerade masks symbol. GREEN GEMSTONE EYES
Masquerade is a pony very dear to my heart. She was one of my childhood collection, so of course, whenever she made an appearance in the comic, I took special note. I also found her name very difficult to spell as a child, so usually abbreviated the poor pony's name to "Masky", a nickname that has stuck, since it is actually somewhat accurate to the personality of this character.
I can think of a few moments that stick in the memory - one when she was playing Pony Christmas, delivering gifts around ponyland. And the other was a story in which she put on a Masquerade, and was a mistress of disguise. This was Masquerade's special gift. She wasn't magical, like many ponies were. But she was the most skilled costume mistress you could hope to encounter, to the point when even her own friends could not recognise her. And, she would never fail to use this talent to help if the need was about! One story that I do recall quite clearly is when she dressed up as a sea monster to scare some of the baby sea ponies into behaving themselves!

In the cartoon show, Masquerade was a frequent bit player, but she had a sweet nature and was one of the ponies who genuinely wanted to help the Hobo in Woe Is Me.
Masquerade was sold in many countries worldwide, including the UK.
