"You've changed, Arai-kun...the old Arai-kun was a completely oblivious roommate. If I said something, you'd immediately do the opposite...if there was even any conversation at all. But now it's not like that. You listen to what I say, you even worry about me...it was definitely not like that before."
"Hahahaha!"
Suddenly Arai burst out laughing in a loud voice.
"What is it?"
"It's just that it's not that I've changed. It's the fact that you've changed that makes you see me differently!"
"It's not that way!"
As Nakamoto obstinately retorted, Arai found he couldn't reply. Arai himself understood the reason better than anyone else. What had happened, in sharing the same room as Nakamoto, and spending time with him was something he understood best of all.
"Sure it is..."
"It's not, Arai-kun. You're the one who's changed."
Then, hesitantly, Nakamoto revealed his true thoughts.
"This Arai-kun...is someone I like."
"...?!"
As these words left Nakamoto's lips, Arai was startled into speechlessness, half thinking he was imagining what he had heard.
"And...I'd like it if...from now on...we were friends."
Nakamoto had honestly admitted his feelings, and had taken the first step.
He had hard times still to face. He still had to overcome a huge wall in his way. But, if in all of this he had begun to find evidence of friendship, then it was all to the good. He could move towards tomorrow with hope.
"Me too. From here on in, Nakamoto."
Even while feeling somewhat embarrassed by Nakamoto's emotions, Arai returned the sentiment in kind.

The PLUS novels - comprising eight volumes in total - were published by Palette in 1998/9 and pretty much conclude the story of the boys right up to their graduation. Produced in bunko format and authored by the creator Arisugawa Kei, they can probably be seen as true canon in one way or another. Unlike the original novels, these stories follow the boys in their third year, and feature many of the popular characters from the Drama CDs (such as Kusanagi and Sugita).

At present I've no plans to translate any of the novels or anything like that - although the passage above is taken from book 6, just because I like it - , so this section is really comprised of summarised information of the books as I've gone through them. What I can say is that the novels seem to carry a lot of background information that runs concurrent to the PLUS manga series - referencing events from the manga but also giving other details (for example, Sugita's true relationship with Kusanagi, plus further information on the growing friendship between Arai and Nakamoto, Kawazoe and Arai's relationship and many other things. And they're pretty funny in places too :D
