The History of E.M.U - Oretachi No Sotsugyoushiki

Oh, I was a very happy Vraie when this finally arrived on my doorstep!
My thanks to LinaInverse76 who is responsible for providing all the screen captures on this page (since I'm incapable of taking screen captures from VHS, *sob*)

Of the three non-concert VHS releases, this is by far the most interesting one. The opening is a flash-through of some of E.M.U's high points (I have to say at this juncture that at moments the spinning EMU logo in the middle of the screen is irritating), but then it goes into the main feature - which is from the Oretachi no Sotsugyoushiki live M event. This was the final EMU and M event - the real closing chapter to the story, filmed in 2000 around the time of the Memorial CD release and Oretachi no Sotsugyou albums.

During the event segment, the boys put on a special radio "advice" section (Midorikawa-san gets brownie points for being Mippi), they talk about their M memories and they also perform Oretachi no Sotsugyou, a performance which appears on the Thank You DVD also. However, the Thank You DVD doesn't show the second encore where Midorikawa-san...er...bursts out crying, can't talk, and has to be hugged by Kanna-san. (It's really sweet...)

The final "extra feature" on this video is what can be called the final Sotsugyou M drama. Fittingly, it's a live drama, scripted, and featuring the M boys plus Oota Shinichirou (Sugita), Kusao Takeshi (Kusanagi) and Inoue Takayuki (as the announcer). My overriding impression of this drama is that Kusao Takeshi is so, so, so brilliant as Kusanagi live on stage. Very impressive stuff. He stole the show, in truth, though they were all pretty good. The theme of the drama - "Oretachi no Epilogue" (Our Epilogue) is that Kusanagi doesn't want to lose the five 3A組 boys. It's not good enough for him to only have the ryuunen two the next year - he wants them all! Sugita is not at all happy, and even walks out on his boss at one point, but Kusanagi insists on throwing a party and luring the boys to it. (You'd think they'd learn...right?). Conned into playing bingo (!?!?, not kidding!?!) the boys discover their prize comes with a catch ^_^. However, thanks to Yuusuke's strength and their resolve the boys escape. Despite the fact each is resolved to live their own life and follow their own goals, they tell Kusanagi that they don't hate him and move the President to tears. And then they remind him that he always has Sugita to rely on - at which point Sugita returns and he and the President make up their "fight". Aw. Happy ending...;)
