1990:

FLOWER PONIES

Back to basics yet again, the Flower Ponies were a set of bicoloured ponies issued in some of the earlier poses and with no particular gimmick or glitz to separate them from other sets. Personally, I prefer My Little Pony this way, and from the way Hasbro periodically returned to this simple look, so did some of the kids!

The set comprised four ponies, one of which was a pegasus. There were no unicorn ponies in this set, and the one pegasus that there was did not have some of the classic pegasus features of earlier years (such as a streak in her mane or a glittered symbol). As their name suggests, each pony was flower themed, with a bouquet symbol representing different types of flowers. They were sold with flower picks (monocolour) in the style of the Flutter Ponies' combs, but no other accessories.

The first images of these ponies to appear online were German, so they are sometimes referred to by their German names and thought of as German ponies. They are actually pan-European, and I believe they may also have been sold in Oceania. They were certainly sold in the UK under the names listed here - but were never sold in North America.
