Hayashi
(Kanna) Nobutoshi
Date of Birth:
Let's get the confusing part out of the way first off the bat, shall
we? The name thing ^_^. For some reason - and I haven't been able to
discover what that reason was - this guy ended 1999 with his birth name
Hayashi Nobutoshi and started 2000 with the name Kanna Nobutoshi. This
makes referring to him very confusing - in particular because most of
the stuff I have for him is under his original name...the one he's no
longer using :S.
For that reason, on this site there's likely to be a deviation at times
between what I refer to him as. While he was with E.M.U, he was
"Hayashi Nobutoshi" until the release of the memorial box set on which
he introduces himself as "formerly Hayashi Nobotushi, now Kanna
Nobutoshi". If you just humour me and expect reference to him under
both names I'd be most grateful!
Hayashi-san (as I best know him) was probably the first Japanese seiyuu
I became interested in, because of Tasuki. Or, to be more specific,
because of the song "Heart Ni Kiraboshi Sakashitare!" which a friend of
mine kept throwing in my direction. Tasuki's voice is pretty unique -
bandit kansai in ancient china - but it was the quality of the singing
which really attracted me to it. Although I already had begun reading
the Yuugi manga, it was Hayashi-san's singing of that song which got me
watching the anime. (Of course Tasuki doesn't appear till episode 14,
by which time I was well hooked, LOL). Even to this day Tasuki is still
my favourite of Hayashi-san's characters - bar none.
Though he's an extremely good seiyuu, it's still my opinion that his
true gift is musical - with his guitar playing and his singing t'boot.
He also seems to have a genuine love and interest in music since he has
been involved in several musical projects as well as E.M.U and has
released several CDs - most notably "Drive",
"Born" "42.195" and the Zero Phoenix songs with Midorikawa Hikaru.
Certainly on the Drive album he's credited with guitar solos and
writing credits, too. He also has performed several times as "Randy"
from Angelique at Neoromance festas - as yet I know nothing about
Angelique or the character he's representing, but I do have to admit I
like watching him perform :)
Miki-san characters
