1989: Sunshine Ponies

Ah, Mainsail...the other participant in the family Abseiling Championships...*nostalgia*

Ahem.

Mainsail, as her name suggests, was another of the boating whizzes. Following in the footsteps (hoofprints?) of Sea Spray (seaponies have hoofprints now? Hmm...maybe not), Barnacle and Tug, and joining Sail Away, she had her own little yacht which she took sailing around the sea. Sometimes she'd take friends on a ride with her (though it wasn't a big boat). And I have a distinct memory of her appearing in a poem with Sail Away before the Tropical Ponies were officially released - meaning that she played some part in bringing them into the comics!

For some reason the Sunshine Ponies were not sold in the United Kingdom with ribbons, only combs. Each was sold on a bordered card in yellow.

Mainsail was sold in the UK.
