1989: Dance 'n' Prance Ponies
TAP DANCER
Purple earth pony with gold mane and tail, gold floral brooch. Gold top hat and cane symbol.
For some unknown reason, Tap Dancer is the most obscure of the Dance n Prance Ponies, being less common to find on the second hand market than any of her companions.
She has the honour of being one of the first Dance and Prance Ponies introduced to the UK market, as she - along with Swinger and Player - featured in a story called Old Father Time Springs a Surprise. Tap Dancer's special magic involved the hat and cane that makes up a part of her symbol. Not only was she an excellent dancer, but at the end of a performance she would turn the cane up at the ceiling, and sparkling confetti would shower down on everyone. Then she would tip her hat and add a flood of colours to the showering confetti - an ideal pony to bring along to a wedding reception!
