Germany
Alternate Princess Ponies
The first thing that I want to write about on this page is the fact that this was not the only type of Princess Pony sold in Germany. By which I mean that Germany had the normal Princess Ponies as well - and I believe, both sets. Just, for some reason, there are some different versions of some of the Princess Ponies from the First set that got issued in Germany (and some other European countries.)
The only photo pamphlet I have that shows the Princess Ponies in Germany comes from a 1987 booklet, and all the colouring on those ponies is what you would call "normal."
Most all the information I have on these ponies is second hand. I don't know why Germany had a completely seperate range of Princesses alongside the originals, but from what I've been told and a few pictures I've seen, they had their own wands and damsel hats too. Though it's hard to be absolutely sure on their correct names without the MIP evidence, it has been suggested to me that their names are actually as follows:
My thanks go to Ashlyne for this information!
PRINCESS SAPPHIRE:VARIANT
VARIATION: Hair is coral instead of dark pink.
This pony is from my own collection. Her hair is the same colour as Munchy from the Twice as Fancy Pony set.
I am not sure if the hat she has is hers or not, but it came with her when I got her. The tinsel in her hair is still pink. Her symbol is also very pink.
PRINCESS PEARL: VARIANT
VARIATION: Hair is yellow instead of white.
Her tinsel remains silvery, however. Her teardrop symbol is also silvery with blue gems.
For some reason mine seems to have a creamish body, but I suspect that is wear/discolouration as I have seen much whiter ones on ebay.
PRINCESS RUBY: VARIANT
VARIATION: Hair is yellow instead of blue. I confess I have nicknamed this one "Blondie" for that reason >.>
Her tinsel remains pink, however. Her butterfly symbol is blue with pink gems
PRINCESS AQUAMARINE: VARIANT
VARIATION: Hair is coral/dark pink instead of pale pink.
I have not seen this pony in real life so am unsure if it is the same shade as Sapphires but from the image it doesn't look like it is. Some have reported it's actually a darker pink colour, rather than coral. I honestly think it looks more of a lilac/lavender pink somehow...but I have never seen one in real life to be sure.
PRINCESS AMBER: VARIANT
VARIATION:
Hair is pink, rather than purple.
It's kinda hard to see in this image, but you get the idea from her tail. I am unsure if it is the shade that fades or not.
PRINCESS AMETHYST: VARIANT
VARIATION: Hair is coral instead of aqua.
Her body tone also seems a bit more purple than my Princess Amethyst, though this could be to do with batch. Her tinsel is the same colour as normal Princess Amethyst.
Thanks to JLM for the pic of Aquamarine and Ashlyne for the pic of Amber.
*If you have the variant Amber or Aquamarine for sale, please get in touch as I need them to complete my set!*
