1987: Princess Ponies and Attendants

PRINCESS RUBY

Pink earth pony with blue mane and tail (dark pink tinsel), blue jewelled butterfly medallion symbol.

"Restless Rubies!"

This was the catchphrase of the impatient, always-busy Princess Ruby. She was constantly on the go, always wanting to begin something new, and always fretting if something held her up. Her poor dragon, Sparks, was dragged from pillar to post, attempting (often in vain) to keep up with his princesses many wild whims. I often felt sorry for Sparks, whose patience must have been endless!

CHUMSTER the BUSHWOOLIE
(N. American release attendant)

In North America, Princess Rubywas called Princess Primrose. She was sold with Chumster, the yellow bushwoolie. Sometimes he gets called Charmington online. Since I don't have her mint in box, I can't tell you for sure which is his real name. But more reliable sources have used Chumster, so I'd put my bet with that.

Her accessories in the UK and the US varied from issue to issue, like the attendants. Ruby is pictured above with her correct hat for the UK - yellow with silver flowers and butterflies and pink, gilt-edged ribbons.
