1986: Pretty and Pearly Baby Sea Ponies

Water Lily was the third new character to have two editions - sold in one pose in the United Kingdom(above) and another pose in the North American edition (below). Her float remains the same between issues (don't be fooled by the shade difference in the photo, because it is actually the exact same float pictured in both cases!)

Water Lily was an aquatic ballerina, famous among the sea creatures for her beautiful dances and choreography among the coral. How she managed this is anyone's guess - but anyhow ;)

I do not know whether the North American issue was ever intended to have curly hair, but I do know that the UK release pony was sold with curls and the curls mine has above are original (because I had her from new this way). These are often washed out over years of swimming with children, however, and finding a baby sea pony with curls intact is not common. This makes it difficult in many cases to determine which ponies should and should not have had curls from new :S
